Southampton Retreat

Completed - 2019

The Southampton Retreat is an 8,300-square-foot retreat on Long Island, blending bold materials with thoughtful design. A poured-in-place concrete structure forms the core of the home, serving as both façade and framework, its board-formed surface highlighting subtle wood grain textures. This solidity contrasts with the glass-wrapped living area, a light-filled “cube” that merges kitchen, living, and dining spaces with the outdoors.

Throughout the home, wide-plank white oak ceilings and floors add warmth, while playful touches—like pink accent nooks and artisanal cement tiles—bring personality to the serene palette. Skylights and floating staircases invite light into every corner, including a subterranean courtyard that connects to a media room below. Designed with an understated approach, the interiors showcase the homeowner’s art collection, balancing simplicity with handcrafted details that reveal the care in every component.
