Ditmas Park Passive House #1
This project transforms a historic freestanding Colonial Revival home in Ditmas Park into a thoughtfully designed multigenerational residence. Built in 1928 and largely untouched since, the home is undergoing a meticulous restoration of its facade and a complete interior transformation. The design respects the home’s historic character while introducing modern updates, including a contemporary rear addition. The goal is to create two distinct, functional apartments, each with its own unique interior design tailored to its occupants.
The first-floor apartment offers a refined and elegant design, drawing inspiration from the home’s historic character. The reconfigured layout features a shared kitchen and dining area, creating a warm and welcoming central space. A guest room or office at the front overlooks the charming front porch, while the rear addition introduces a light-filled living room with access to the rear yard and deck and a serene primary suite. Designed for convenient single-level living, this unit balances historic charm with modern comfort.
